More... 16th March 2005CELEBRATING 50 YEARSStandardknit Fabrics was founded in 1954 (50 years ago this year) by Leon Lehrer and was then known as Standard Knitting Mills. It was originally a manufacturer of garments and flat knitted fabrics. The company is privately owned and family run based in Sydney, Australia.
In 1961 the company started manufacturing circular knitted fabrics.
In 1980 Standardknit acquired Universal Dyers, and in 1982 garment production ceased as the Group wanted to concentrate on supply of knitted fabrics.
In 1984 manufacturing operations were consolidated in Botany (Sydney). The knitting mill and dyehouse were now in the same vicinity which streamlined the operation and increased efficiency.
In 2001, to facilitate the growing demand for our stock service fabrics, the Standardknit Stock Service moved into a new purpose built facility in Botany. It was here that all fabrics available from stock could be displayed and easily sampled by our customers. 16th November 2004CUT LENGTHSDon't forget that Standardknit will now cut your desired length of fabric ex stock service for a small surcharge. 3rd December 2003 |
